The pool is skillfully illuminated, making it striking even at night. One part of artist Jussi Heikkilä’s three-part work Fucus has been placed in the pool, while the other two are located in St. Birgitta Park. The artwork depicts different islands of the Gulf of Finland.
The park’s water pool features special lighting made of lateral optical fiber. This creates a series of wave patterns along the bottom, emphasizing the water theme and following the shoreline. At the northern end of the pool, seating benches have been placed, with daylily plantings as a decorative backdrop. To the south, the park borders the wall line of new residential buildings, where perennials and low shrubs grow.
The park continues toward Piritankuja as lawn areas with old lindens growing on them. A north–south walking path cuts across the green space, connecting Hernesaarenkatu to Eiranranta Street. The park’s walking surfaces are paved with black concrete stones, while the areas intended for relaxation are surfaced with black and red natural stone. There are plenty of benches in the square, all placed on natural stone surfaces.
The park offers sea views across to St. Birgitta Park. At the end of the square and pool in Pilgrim Park, there are seating steps in St. Birgitta Park that lead down to the shoreline.
