The narrow stretch of park has a height elevation change of around one metre from the waterfront to the sidewalk along the road. The green area is separated from the pedestrian path along the waterfront by a low stone wall.

The pedestrian path opens into a small square by Kellosaari Park with a scenic area extending from the park and ramps leading down to the waterfront.

On either side of the square and scenic area are wide lawns for relaxing. Flowering perennials and ground cover plants grow along the wall. The pedestrian path along the waterfront is made of natural rock.

Ruoholahti Square features a sculpture by Dennis Oppenheim (1931–) entitled Engagement comprising two diamond rings attached to each other. The rings are painted steel and the house-like diamonds are made of acrylic plates and have an electric light inside. The rings symbolise marriage while the houses symbolise the home and family. The dynamics of marriage require that a balance be struck between two people with different backgrounds. Also, every union contains the possibility of a break up. In Oppenheim’s piece, this dynamic arises from the small distance separating the rings, which lean away from each other. The sculpture measures nine metres in height.

<figure
