In the corner next to Kaivopuisto, purple and paradise apple trees have been planted. The elm grove planted by the Rotary Club in 1978 is accompanied by a p\u00e9tanque court and equipment for outdoor fitness enthusiasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former winter boat storage area is now an open lawn where games can be played and various events held. The narrow park area along the seaside path is a raised lawn bordered by a granite wall. North\u2013south stone pathways also run through the park, with charming seating plazas at the Merikatu end. The plazas are bordered by peonies, hostas, and flowering cherry trees. From the plazas, visitors can access the active areas of the park, where they can kick a ball or play basketball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The park\u2019s popular playground is enclosed by vegetation and a wire-mesh fence. Because of winds coming from the sea, the southern edge of the playground has a transparent protective fence that allows views of the water. The playground equipment has a maritime theme. It\u2019s pleasant to have a picnic under the shade of old trees. Many new trees and flowering, tree-form lilacs have also been planted in the park. Meripuisto\u2019s pathways and activity areas are illuminated with downward-facing pole lights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sea Park is divided into active areas and open park space.
