Become an organic gardener at Viikinojanpuisto allotment site! Allotment gardening has long traditions in Helsinki. By now, Helsinki has made this unique practice possible for more than a hundred years. Cultivating allotments promotes public health, provides the gardener with clean food and makes our city more diverse and interesting.

Please note that the pathways in the allotment sites are recreational areas open to all, and therefore may be accessed freely. The allotments themselves and their harvest naturally belong to the gardeners renting the allotment. Please respect their work and do not touch the crops.

This allotment site was built in 2022. The Viikinojanpuisto allotment site is the 43rd allotment site in Helsinki. New features in the site are an insect hotel, a brushwood fence, a meadow with fruit trees, berry bushes around the allotment gardens and a picnic area with a grill.

How can I get an allotment garden in this area?

The allotment gardening sites of the City of Helsinki have been leased to city district or allotment gardening societies, which manage them. The societies then rent the individual allotments to Helsinki residents. Inquiries related to the allotments in this site can be sent via email to myllypuron.palstaviljelijat@gmail.com

All allotment sites and the societies renting them are listed at https://www.hel.fi/Helsinki/fi/kulttuuri-ja-vapaa-aika/muu-vapaa-aika/mokit-ja-viljelyspalstat/viljelyspalstat/
